FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

This is the Oregon coast. Sometimes even on the sunny day it can still be a little cool so we recommend wearing a nice sweatshirt, if it gets hot it can be rolled up easily. Pants wise? Jeans of course. Sweatpants and yoga pants are pretty slick on a saddle and will lead to some discomfort. Be sure to take out anything that’s gonna fall out of your pockets and zip it up in a zipper pocket or leave it in your rig. We guarantee if it falls in the sand, you probs ain’t gonna find it again. Shoes? Definitely close toed. Tennies or cowboy boots work great. If you’re gonna wear a hat, be sure to have a chin strap on it. If the wind blows it will be gone for sure and ain’t nobody got time for that. Ball caps are cool. Just pullem down tight.

Helmets? Helmets did anyone say helmets?

We recommend that all our fine customers wear a helmet to ensure safety. If not wear a helmet you must, and you are 18 years old or over. You do have the option to to fill out the back of our liability form, indicating that you have been fully warned and advised of safety cautions, as well as, to indemnify and hold harmless Lincoln county beach and trail rides llc and insurance company from any and all claims.

Can we ride double?

No ridin’ double, sorry folks. As much as we would love it, the higher ups just won’t allow us to have any double or tandem rides. We keep it at one rider per our fine horses.

Any paparazzi along for the ride?

If you’re gonna bring a camera that’s cool with us just be sure to have it on a strap. Same goes with your phone because it’s pretty unsafe to attempt to control the horse while taking pictures or having something in your hand. If it falls, we can’t stop for everyone dropping things all the day long.

Do you need a reservation to ride?

All rides must be booked online. We take a $50 deposit per rider and the remaining balance paid by 10am ride day. We cannot accept any money or solicit any commercial business on the property of the state park. So please book online and pay online only.

Is there a weight limit?

Generally the weight limit is 240-280lb. It all depends on height, leg length, agility/balance, flexibility, experience level and comfort. While we do have a nice string of horses and saddles, sometimes the gear doesn’t get along with the rider. Saddles ain’t bolted on. They’re just cinched down and they can slide some as people ride. The bigger the boy the more they can slide. So just shoot us an email text or call if you are over 250lbs before you make a reservation.

But what if it rainnnnnns?

Poor weather? We ride rain or shine. We are experienced guides and not a lot will shut us down. If you’re game then so are we! The only times we will cancel related to weather is if there is thunder and lighting. It scares the heck outta the horses. We will also cancel if the beach has been closed down due to weather hazards. If there is a cancelation we provide a full refund.

What if there are delays?

When we actually takeoff for the ride may depend on the environment and location circumstances. We do our best to get there on time and we run a tight ship with the schedule . Sometimes things don’t always work out that way. Whether it be a wreck or washout on the 101. But don’t you worry, you’ll still get about an hour ride! Takes about an hour and a half total with all the sign-ins, safety orientation, mounting and things like that.

the almighty RULES

Disclaimer
The recreational activity you are about to take part in is conducted on live animals. Horses used on string rides are accustomed to a routine and, if allowed, will do what they think they should be doing. However, if proper control and seating is used by the rider, the horse will respond for the rider. Although our horses are not used for customers until they are proven, there is no such thing as a perfectly “safe” horse. At any given time anything can irritate or spook a horse into doing a quick stop, side step, crow hop, bucking, full out, run etc. By following some basic safety rules, riding horses can be a very rewarding and safe activity for all ages and skill leveled riders to enjoy.

Our rights
Safety of our customers and of our horses is our number one priority. Due to the nature of this business, we reserve our rights to refuse service to anyone.
